The History of Kite Country

Introduction

Despite its apparent remoteness, Kite Country has enjoyed a history as long and as diverse as almost any other part of the British Isles. This page does not provide full details of the history of Wales in general, as there are many other more specific sites that can do this with much more authority. Instead, I shall describe a few places in Kite Country where you can see evidence of this history for yourselves and enjoy a step back into the past. I have given grid references for these so that you can find some of the more isolated spots easily. If you want to know more go straight to the Encyclopaedia Britannica, which is a superb resource of information. Alternatively, if you have about 25 hours spare take the free, online course in Welsh History and its Sources offered by the Open University. You will find plenty of recommendations as to other relevant sites on my Links page.
